LIP AND LABRET PIERCING CARE
FOR THE FIRST TWO WEEKS:
- Swish with Listerine for 20-30 seconds every time you eat, drink, or smoke.
- Avoid hot, spicy foods, hot temperature foods, or acidic foods and beverages, such as tomato sauce and orange juice.
- Limit your exposure to the sun.
SWELLING MAY BE REDUCED BY THE FOLLOWING:
- Applying ice or popsicles to the inside of the lip.
- Taking Advil, Motrin, or Ibuprofen.
- Avoiding sucking through a straw.
FOR THE FIRST TEN DAYS:
- NO BEER, WINE COOLERS, OR MALT LIQUOR. These products can cause a yeast infection in the mouth that will need medical attention.
FOR THE FIRST MONTH:
- Clean the outside of your piercing with care solution 4 times a day. (Apply with sterile Q-Tips)
- Slight swelling, redness, or discharge on the pierced area is normal.
- No swimming in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water.
- Leave your original jewelry in for at least a month before changing it out.
- Never use alcohol or peroxide on your piercing.
- Do not use make-up, moisturizers, or lotions on or near the pierced area.
- ALWAYS WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY WITH ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP PRIOR TO HANDLING PIERCING
FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS:
- Apply a small amount of Bacitracin ointment with a sterile Q-Tip onto the outside of your piercing after each cleaning with the care solution.
