TONGUE PIERCING CARE

 FOR THE FIRST TWO WEEKS:

  • Swish with Listerine for 20-30 seconds every time you eat, drink, or smoke.
  • Very gently brush the tongue to remove any discharge or buildup.
  • Avoid hot, spicy foods, hot temperature foods, or acidic foods and beverages, such as tomato sauce and orange juice.

FOR THE FIRST MONTH:

  • You must leave your original jewelry in for at least a month before changing it out.
  • Slight swelling or discharge from the pierced area is normal.

SWELLING MAY BE REDUCED BY THE FOLLOWING:

  • Applying ice or popsicles to the tongue.
  • Taking Advil, Motrin, or Ibuprofen.
  • Avoid sucking through a straw.

FOR THE FIRST TEN DAYS:

  • NO BEER, WINE COOLERS, OR MALT LIQUOR. These products can cause a yeast infection in the mouth that will need medical attention
